Sense and Sensibility

By WPI Theatre (other events)

3 Dates Through Dec 03, 2022

ABOUT ABOUT

WPI Drama/Theatre is proud to present Sense and Sensibility, adapted by Kate Hamill, based on the novel by Jane Austen, directed by Dr. Kathryn Moncrief.

Event Information

"A playful new adaption of Jane Austen's beloved novel follows the fortunes (and misfortunes) of the Dashwood sisters -- sensible Elinor and hypersensitive Marianne -- after their father's sudden death leaves them financially destitute and socially vulnerable. Set in gossipy late 18th-century England, with a fresh female voice, the play is full of humor, emotional depth, and bold theatricality. SENSE AND SENSIBILITY examines our reactions, both reasonable and ridiculous, to societal pressures. When reputation is everything, how do you follow your heart?" (Dramatists Play Services, Inc)

COVID Safety Protocols

As with all WPI indoor activities, masking is encouraged but not required. Performers will be unmasked while onstage.

Ticketing Policies

Seating for this production is extremely limited. Please do not reserve any tickets that you're not confident you will use.

Once tickets sell out, you may use the Waitlist ticket option to request a seat. If tickets become avalible (either in advance, or on the day of the performance), they will be released to patrons with waitlist reservations. Though not guaranteed, seating will likely be available for those on the waitlist, so please come to the theater on the evening of the performance you wish to attend. When you arrive, be sure to tell the house manager that you're on the waitlist!

Online Reservations will close 2 hours before each performance. After that time, patrons must come to the theatre in person to reserve tickets or add their name to the waitlist.

The house will open 30 minutes before the performance. Please arrive at the theater at least 10 minutes before the show to ensure seating availability. At 5 minutes before curtain, all reservations will be released and empty seats will be offered to patrons on the waitlist.

Late Seating

Patrons arriving after the performance's start time may (or may not) be seated at the discretion of the House Manager. Please arrive early, as noted above.

Venue & Parking

The Little Theatre is located on the south side of Riley Hall, closest to Institute Road. The entrance (illuminated by a purple neon sign) is on the west side of the building, facing Daniels Hall. When you arrive, please check in with the house manager.

Free guest parking is available in the WPI West Street Lot or in the Park Avenue Garage. Since the building is on a steep hill, patrons with accessibility challenges may prefer to get dropped off in the driveway between Riley Hall & Daniels Hall before parking in the West Street Lot.
